Thefacebook is an online directory that connects people through social networks. Create a profile, post to your Wall and other members' Walls, read the feed, and search for people you know.

What you can do

• Register with any email — open to everyone, no school required.
• Create a profile and tell people about yourself.
• Post status updates to your own Wall, or write on another member's Wall.
• See every member's posts in the feed, newest first.
• Search for members by name.

About this version

facebookVer2 is a faithful recreation of TheFacebook as it looked in 2004 — the fixed-width layout, the blue masthead, the bracketed wordmark, and the text-only Wall. It is a demonstration project and is not affiliated with Facebook.

One deliberate difference from the original: registration is open to anyone. The 2004 site limited each network to a single college or university and required a school .edu email — this version drops that gate.
